Interesting, I haven't seen the problem on bare metal yet (we have 4 million
there which is plenty for our workloads).

Check

 sysctl vfs.numvnodes

under your typical workloads and set kern.maxvnodes so that it's twice as
much(even if it works this is just a workaround, the underlying issue
absolutely has to be fixed).

Can you reproduce the problem reliably, or does it just happen once in a wh=
ile
(e.g. during nightly periodic jobs)?
