Other lists for other communities have different not the least of which is that I can post to the list from a different account than the one which receives the emails, thereby keeping all my "gee i harvested your email address from your post to the freebsd list" mail in one handy easy to delete mailbox, bsd@a.servers.aozilla.com. I have been on other lists though which enable this through a "send-only" subscription. I would think this would keep out just about any automated spamming system (without artificial intelligence capabilities :).
