It automatically partions the HD and then install a preconfigured FreeBSD using restore(8) from a CD-ROM or a NFS share. It works really great. It has cut install time in half or something like that. I unfortunately don't have time to clean it up for others at the moment but if anyone is interested I think I will have some time to do it in a few weeks. I never tried to get it in to the FreeBSD since none of the "PicoBSD commiters" seems to have the time to actually commit / look at stuff...
