So what were the messages?

Depending on what the messages said, this may or may not be possible.

Tapes don't have file systems, so you can't mount them.  The message
is wrong, though.  We no longer have block devices.  Put in a PR and
we'll fix it.

They're pretty straightforward.  Your problem is that you appear to
have ignored the information the system supplied you.  Those "error
messages" are all different, and they're trying to tell you something.
