I have written a HOWTO on backing up Windows machines from FreeBSD using smbfs and Samba's smbclient. I would like to submit it to the documentation project and maybe have it added to the [growing] collection of HOWTO documents. I have also submitted the article for FreeBSDZine.org. The article has gone through a brief round of proofing by some of my co-workers, so the article might still contain errors.
