I see your optional patch, and that's fine. But it's still going to cause
errors for those NOT using SSL (and don't check the option) but use password
auth?  At least that was in my testing. If I did not use password auth, I did
not see the exceptions, but if I use password auth I would see them. In both
cases, I am *NOT* using SSL.
