I am experiencing a lockup when inserting an IBM Ethernet II Credit Card
Adapter into my laptop. I am running FreeBSD 4.2 RELEASE on a Hitachi E
Series laptop. Removing the card has no affect.
I get the following messages (insertion notifications?) when I insert my
card:
Sep 19 01:58:36 /kernel: pccard: card inserted, slot 1
Sep 19 01:58:36 /kernel: pccard: card inserted, slot 1

I can use a New Media LiveWire 10/100 Fast Ethernet Lan Adapter on the
same
computer. It works in both slots and uses the same resources as the IBM
card. The resources this card and the IBM card use are free. It
displays
an additional line starting with “ed:” and displaying the Ethernet
address
for the card. I can remove this card without any OS lockups or problems
I am aware of a patch that may fix the problem but I don’t know how
obtain
it or install it. I am also not sure if the patch is applicable to my
version of FreeBSD.
