Like others on this list, I too am having problems getting XFree86 4.1.0 and 4.0.x running on my VAIO FX210 (FreeBSD 4.3-STABLE). Using the ati driver, I startx and the screen goes blank, and the laptop freezes up forcing a hard reboot and the dreaded fsck. I see this from dmesg: pci1: <ATI Mobility-1 graphics accelerator> at 0.0 irq 5 pcm0: <VIA VT82C686A> port 0x1c50-0x1c53,0x1c54-0x1c57,0x1000-0x10ff irq 5 at device 7.5 on pci0 chip1: <VIA 82C686 AC97 Modem> port 0x1400-0x14ff irq 5 at device 7.6 on pci0 Seems like pci1, pcm0, and chip1 are all sharing irq 5 here. Could this be a problem? However, I too have Linux 2.4.7 on this laptop running X 4.1.0 without any problems whatsoever. What gives? I'm resorting to X 3.3.6 on FreeBSD 4.3-STABLE for the time being. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo!
