Why not have .../notes.sgml just say something like
Release notes for FreeBSD 4.4 are available for the following
platforms:
* i386
* Alpha
and make those links to notes-alpha.html and notes-i386.html instead?
Then we don't need to the change the front page, and, more importantly,
we still have a system that scales as more architecture ports are bought
onboard (otherwise the front page would get increasingly cluttered).
