From /etc/rc:

                # Keep a copy of the boot messages around
                dmesg >/var/run/dmesg.boot

Unfortunately in my case the dmesg buffer is too small so I miss all the
meaty early boot messages. Is this a settable option or is there some other
way to have all the boot messages saved without a serial console?
