Last night I had one of my servers down for hardware maintenance, and before I turned it back over to the users, I decided to play with /boot/loader.conf and my nics. I have two nics installed in the box, one for internal network (dc0) and the other (xl0) for the Internet. I put them in my loader.conf: # -- sysinstall generated deltas -- # userconfig_script_load="YES" autoboot_delay="5" # Delay in seconds before autobooting miibus_load="YES" # miibus support, needed for some drivers if_dc_load="YES" # DEC/Intel 21143 and various workalikes if_xl_load="YES" # 3Com Etherlink XL (3c900, 3c905, 3c905B) Then I rebooted my box (4.4-Prelease) and when it came back up, I didn't have any nics listed. I could initalize them with the ifconfig statments and they would work ok, but not after a boot. What did I miss? I've been using FreeBSD for about 18 months now, and was just trying to learn more about it.
