Try looking for "command separator" on the csh man page. Another excellent source of information is the O'Reilly Nutshell Handbook, UNIX in a Nutshell (ISBN 1-56592-001-5, ~$10 US). It was written for System V, but 99% of it applies to BSD. It is a little terse, but very thorough. It lists (almost, as far as BSD is concerned) all the UNIX commands, and the Bourne, Korn and C shell commands, along with many more advanced topics. It also lists, and explains to some degree, the various operators, built-in variables, expressions, and such. It also provides _some_ examples, again terse but thorough. It is definitely a reference and not a tutorial, guide, mother or baby sitter. When I know what I want to do, but I do not know how to do it, this is where I look.
