The main domain for our company is hosted with another ISP - and after a
long struggle have just convinced them to delegate a subdomain to our
department for a new service. My question is:

Should the NS (authority) records in the subdomain-zone file be the same
as the ones our other ISP has chosen - or can I add extra secondaries to
the zone and put them in here myself. Will nameservers cache this
information on previous lookups in case my server and the secondary our
ISP have chosen both go down?

I guess the same applies to domains which you get from Internic... but
it's easier to get Internic to make changes than our ISP.

Thanks for any future feedback.

Scot.
