Well, I can actually sort of understand this so let me perhaps phrase it differently: Given that: A) HTML is very likely to become the documentation format of choice in the next 3 years. B) One should always be able to read the system's documentation using the base tools provided with that system. What would you recommend? I don't think that (B) is that contraversal a point - what would Windows be without WinHelp, or OS/2 without the IBM help facility? We should likewise be able to read our own documentation in some format that provides for the reasonable following of links, making bookmarks, etc. I would also say that our inclusion of GNU info establishes some precedent for this.
