The only way you would have to pay for it is if you bought a CD with it on from somewhere like freebsdmall. If you download it all it costs you is time and bandwidth. > 2) Is FreeBSD in any way affected by the SCO lawsuits against Linux distributors and commercial users, as I am aware that FreeBSD is based on Unix? I believe it is the fact that Linux may have Unix code, but I am not sure, as I have read many different opinions. Linux apps will run on FreeBSD, see http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/linuxemu.html But most Apps for linux have a native FreeBSD counterpart anyway. > > 4) Can FreeBSD run on a laptop that is hardware compatible, as I know some OS's cannot run on laptops but can on desktops? > I run freebsd 5.2.1 just fine on my Toshiba Tecra 8100. have an ask about specifics on the freebsd-mobile list > Thank you for your time. > Vince > Bryan > > _______________________________________________ > freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list > http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions > To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-questions-unsubscribe@freebsd.org" >
