Yes, it did build on my a.out box too.  This change just
puts back the behavior as it was before my ELF changes.
I only have two -current boxes up right now (one ELF and
one a.out) so I can't test to see if -soname was supported
in 2.2.x.  This does suggest that i was accepted if only
ignored. :)
