|ok, we got the card working -- sort of. it locks up the xserver every now

Ok, as Amancio requested, please send "dmesg" output. Also,
I'd be interested in the output of:
1) "startx -- -probeonly" (from the console)
2) "fxtv -debug startup" (from your xterm)
3) the fxtv stack trace
"> gdb fxtv fxtv.core"
