Well, I think so because the mplayer manual specifies which codecs
mplayer can read. Real is one of those, but mplayer can't read *all*
of them.

Also, you might be right in your question since the mplayer port only
recently had support for activating real stuff in it:

=2Eif exists(${LOCALBASE}/lib/RealPlayer8/realplay)
WITH_REALPLAYER=3D	yes
=2Eendif

In other words, realplayer needs to be installed before mplayer is
compiled in order to make mplayer look for realplay libraries.
