I've tried this, but still no dice. When I attempt to play an MP3 with XMMS, the machine locks up immediately, forcing me to have to reboot. If I try to play the same file with mpg123, it starts to play for about 30 seconds, and then locks up the system, with a high-pitched ring being constantly emitted from my speakers.
