The ATI Rage Mobility P in my Inspiron 7500 works fine with
XFree 3.3.6 in FreeBSD 4.2 and 4.3. As I recall, support for
this chipset had just been added to XF 3.3 when I got my system
about a year ago. Newer ATI Rage Mobility chipsets may not be
supported in 3.3.

I couldn't get anything but 640x480 working when I first installed
it: I had to fiddle with the config for a while before I got
other resolutions working. That's my big X configuration hint:
don't worry about higher resolution modes until you can make
640x480 work.

Good luck!
