We have here a person with a good track record of taking care of his ports willing to maintain this project, and for some reason it seems to offend you that someone is willing to keep something alive. A project does not have to die because the original upstream is gone. If someone is willing to take it over, that's fine and we should support that person. There is no predestination and you should stop trying to force projects out just because they weren't maintained for a while.
