Works for me (HP Omnibook 6000), 4.5-RC FreeBSD 4.5-RC #75: Sun Jan 20 
01:49:17 PST, ports updated via 'portupgrade'.

With 'mplayer', you need to install some skins before you can use the GUI. 
There's even been a port added recently to install some (one had to manually 
install them before).

However, I rarely use the GUI with mplayer anyway, because I get by far the 
best playback results with the DGA output device (and thus set 'mplayer' 
setuid), but GtK gets all fussy about setuid applications.
