The main web page (https://www.freebsd.org/) is terrible on a wide monitor. Most monitors, really. The CSS throws away a lot of space and uses tiny crimped fonts. Except for <tt> fonts, which are ridiculously overstated. Quite some time back, this irritated me enough to stomp through the CSS, willfully modifying anything that looked funny. The result is not perfect, but still a huge improvement. There have been proposals to replace the main page entirely, but that now looks like it will take a while. So I created this review of my modifications: https://reviews.freebsd.org/D3215 Previews of how the main page looks on 1920x1200 and 1024x768 monitors are here: http://www.wonkity.com/~wblock/tmp/wide-1920.png http://www.wonkity.com/~wblock/tmp/wide-1024.png It would be nice to space the four elements across the top more evenly, The horizontal scrollbar wrongly implies that there is something to the right. Fixes welcome. I propose to commit this in the next three days unless there are complaints or submitted improvements. Thanks!
