This will also be noted in > UPDATING. Is there a knob to generate and install debug symbols for the libraries and rtld only ? I remember that there was some. IMO having debugging information for all binaries is just an overkill. Nobody debugs ls on regular basis, while debug information for C runtime is needed often.
