I think there are a lot out here which want to simply INSTALL a FreeBSD on a special box, not aware of the kind of hardware they are using. Maybe questions concerning a special combination of hardware, like SCSI controllers, RAID controllers or in conjunction with a special SMP able mainboard are special - or those, who have those combinations are not aware of these combinations. Well, sometimes I feel angry about this behavoiur, but I realized, that development runs much faster than we can obtain special answers and most out here tend to use the step in development. Watch out how many are asking for SMP-K7 systems based on AMDs 760 chipset ... Well, but you're right in pointing out some misbehaviours of the "list". In my special case, I will see how well FreeBSD will work with the ordered mainboard and I will post a little, stupid report how it works - or not. :>I´ve got the same feelings concerning the smp list. I ask about a certain motherboard/scsi card combination :>and never got an answer about that. If this is the policy of the list, then :>maybe we should be told so. :> :> :> Gruss O.
