Not MFC'ing just the ports part (which is all we are talking about here -- personally, I'd like the whole thing in 4.7) will *guarantee* that there will be ports written for 5.x that will not work for 4.7 because they rely upon the new rc system for startup and shutdown. Personally, I don't care if the code is buggy, if it's off by default.
