To test whether FreeBSD boots normally during sudden power outages and
restoration, I tried directly unplugging the computer's power cord and plugging
it back in.

The following logs from /var/log/messages record three related boot sequences:
starting from a normal boot, followed by a crash during the second reboot after
pulling the plug, and finally a successful automatic reboot:
