i have seen problems with freebsd 8.2 and 9.0 on sun thumper ( x4500)
where the bios logs shows "Hyper transport sync flood" will get into the BIOS errorlog ( but nothing will come to syslog since reboot is immediate)
This was discussed on freebsd.freebsd-stable jan 18 2012
There was no solution with freebsd, to my dismay solaris works well on the same box :-)
Maybe x4200 has simular design issues ( had to do with routing of interrupts
to the available cpu's)
