-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 On 2005-03-10, bsdzz scribbled these curious markings: > I tried using the "-user-mode" networking, and it worked - I can ping > 10.0.2.2, but I cannot talk to any computer except my FreeBSD host. So > I think I need to figure out "tun". You won't be able to ping any systems other than the FreeBSD host because of the way ping works. ping requires superuser access because of what it does with the socket() that it uses. This is why it's suid to root on your system. For the most part, I've found user-mode networking to be sufficient for use with QEMU. Unix is user friendly. However, it isn't idiot friendly.
