sorry for the generic problem description yesterday.  i was looking for 
a little guidance on what information to provide, or whether this was a 
familiar issue with new cards or wireless.  i would be happy if i could 
get either the built-in aironet or the d-link pccard working... or even 
if i should go out and buy a different card.

i have more technical information today.  i've attached the output of 
"dmesg" and "pciconf -lv" from my laptop.  dmesg shows both the aironet 
error message, and what happens when i plug the d-link card in.  both 
down at the end.

the laptop has a base 6.0 install, with a 7.0-CURRENT kernel running on it.
