I've set up a share between a FreeBSD host and a Win7 guest and it was trivial - no samba required on the host at all. It's described in the VirtualBox documentation. But this may be a good hint. Maybe he can set up samba on his FreeBSD guest and connect to the WinXP host that way. -- Gary Jennejohn
