b)... I think it depends who you talk to.  The first time I asked a few
months ago I got the same response. They might have understood the
question, as being will _3ware_ write FreeBSD _drivers_ of which they are
not. But I was told by them that they will release the 3dm util sometime in
the future for FreeBSD based on the drivers written by msmith... 

Note, I have used this card on Win2K, NT4 and LINUX. Comparing drivers, I
have had the best overall results with the FreeBSD version.
