Nothing went wrong, as far as I can tell. I was working with "sysinstall"
(I finally figured out how to get to root) and reading the FreeBSD Hand Book
to get X working.
I tested the Scroll Lock function and saw these messages.
I don't know what happened, but I became concerned that my USB card
is not operating properly.
I'm new, but I'm learning. I just thought somebody might know what these
messages mean. I'll keep reading.

When you ask questions like these, it's always useful to know the following
things:
a) What were you trying to do?
b) What commands did you run to accomplish it?
c) All the error messages that you saw when it failed.
This way, knowledgeable people will be able to help you more efficiently,
since they will surely know what went wrong.
