The programer of yace chess engine wrote the following message: Accidently today I wanted to install Freebsd (4.9). Unfortunately it hangs >>during the boot process. I'm still doing some smp test w/ BETA but all in all better than that >5.2.1-RELEASE that imho has some issues to work out. If you have any problems w/ >install just ask. My email is eqe@cox.net. Same problem with 4.10, hanging at the boot with the above message. I disabled DMA mode for the HDs, and it booted. But then I got an error when partitioning the drive ("too big?"). Can Freebsd handle IDE drives > 128 GB? Thanks for your offer of help, but I think I will use the space otherwise. Not very tempting anymore, when it starts like this. I will see however, what I can do, to make Yace run under Freebsd. Regards, Dieter I am hoping that someone here could be of more assistance than I to help him get freebsd running.
