Any thoughts? Well, to start with you have to consider that FreeBSD can't be installed *on top of* Windows. FreeBSD needs its own disk partition, one that you can boot from, as it's an operating system all its own. Now, you can either use PartitionMagic or fips to resize one of your partitions, so that you have a gig free for FreeBSD, or you can take the plunge and wipe out Windows. Wiping out Windows is a big leap, but one I consider well worth it, having done it myself with Linux and never having a reason to look back. Make sure to read the FreeBSD Handbook first. I'm serious. It's essential that you, as a newbie, read the FreeBSD Handbook and *understand it* before you try to install the OS, as it covers installation and basic configuration: X Window, PPP, kernel configs, networking, sound, etc. Also, you might not be able to use AOL in FreeBSD, so if you dump Windows you might have to switch ISPs as well. Think carefully, read carefully, and good luck. - -- Matthew Graybosch http://www.starbreaker.net GnuPG Key ID: 0x7D488659 "Sex, Unix, and rock 'n roll" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (FreeBSD) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE7/vxncCiK1X1IhlkRAhMCAKDj1S6e20pElJ1nPPpfRQY5YkIlsgCfZ1Hu Nw7UODDRF+cqLFbueomoyFA= =d0OD -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
