And indeed, the use of version numbers should be minimized (so "yes" is better than "4.9+"). And the "or later" variant is preferred over requiring an exact version (so "4.9+" is better than "4.9"). USE_GCC=yes > USE_GCC=4.9+ > USE_GCC=4.9, where ">" is "preferred". Gerald
