``mdoc'' is the *roff macro package used for writing *BSD manuals; see
mdoc(7) manpage for details. The new release of mdoc(7) macro package
will soon be released.

Some manpages require (minor) fixing in order to be properly displayed
with the new mdoc(7) and/or contained minor formatting bugs that (now)
detected by mdoc(7).

There is also another (less powerful) macro package called man(7).
The ``man(7) -> mdoc(7)'' commits convert manpages from one format
to another.
