That won't work around the problem. The Vinum device would then be too large. The maximum device size is 1TB worth of 512 byte blocks due to the size of a daddr_t (a signed 32 bit int). There is exactly one solution to this problem, and that is to change pretty much the whole kernel to handle 64 bit daddr_t's.
