Possibly it's more efficient to keep the working ntp3 version in current. Why upgrade to a newer version 3 and then updating to v4 ? Too much movement in the base OS. > The latest ntp4 code is *not* export restricted. It only uses md5. And DES. When I read the notes correctly DES _and_ MD5 are default configure options. But first it should be tested in the ports collection as Poul said... > I gather several folks are helping collaborate on the new PPS api, which > will also be helpful/useful. I can include all your patches into my port and update the port, if there is a new release. The only thing that should be done, is to add variables to /etc/rc.conf for xntpd_prog and ntpdate_prog and to alter rc.netstart and netstart to use that variables ... This makes it easier to use the newer versions of ntpdate and ntpd in /usr/local/bin. -- Andreas Klemm http://www.FreeBSD.ORG/~andreas What gives you 90% more speed, for example in kernel compilation ? http://www.FreeBSD.ORG/~fsmp/SMP/akgraph-a/graph1.html "NT = Not Today" (Maggie Biggs) ``powered by FreeBSD SMP'' To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-current" in the body of the message
