I'm trying to install FreeBSD 2.1.5-RELEASE on my machine at home. I've been unsuccessful getting the standard boot floppy (boot.flp, I believe) to boot. It dies shortly after several driver messages with the something along these lines: "brkadrint: Illegal host access at 0x0" I believe this message is related to my SCSI HD and controller. Here's my system configuration: EISA/VLB 486DX4/100. (Old Gateway EISA/VLB motherboard) 40MB RAM Adaptec AHA2740 controller Seagate ST43400 SCSI drive (ID 0, I believe) Diamond Stealth 64 (VLB, 2MB DRAM) Do you have any suggestions? This configuration works fine under Linux. (I certainly hope "Linux" isn't a dirty word around there.) :-) I'm installing FreeBSD with the intention of running some (hopefully meaningful) benchmarks so I can compare the two above and beyond the noise in .advocacy groups and the like.
