Is 3dmd actually running?  There was some mail on -stable around the 
beginning of April saying that a change in -stable had broken the 3dmd 
binary.  There was a binary patch posted that's supposed to correct the 
problem.  If that's not the problem you might want to check and see if 
1080 is the actual port that 3dmd is using; I vaguely recall that the 
port changes it from the default to 8080.

If you've run into the problem of the broken 3dmd binary you might drop 
a note to 3Ware's tech support.  Maybe if enough folks ask them about it 
they'll work on releasing an updated binary.
