http://www.mozilla.org/performance/tools.html gives some profiling
options.  I haven't had much success with any of them under FreeBSD.
When I used jprof on RedHat, I found most of the cpu time being used
in one very dumb colorspace conversion loop inside gtk which was re-writing
each image one byte at a time (not one pixel, but one byte of each pixel,
byte by byte).  I filed a bug report, the Mozilla people weren't interested
or just didn't get it.
