I both cases you are going to suffer the same consequences of NOT heeding the warning you have been getting for the past 3+ years. You should be taking this early warning to develop a migration to something else to limit your production down time. Stalling dropping rc.conf jail support is not a solution. You will have to face this sooner or later.
