I put my OS's on small, fast disks (Intel 520 Series SSD 60 GB, 2.5")
and my data on other disks. This allows me to:

1. Take images of my OS disks in less time and less space as needed and
on a regular basis.

2. Save many OS disk images in less space.

3. Restore OS disk images in less time.

I suggest that you disconnect all your disks, install a zeroed/ security
erased, small, fast OS disk, install your OS of choice, and evaluate if
the OS meets your needs. If it does, reconnect your old disks and
migrate your configuration and/or data forward. If not, remove the new
disk and reconnect your old disks.
