I had searched a proper > option in LINT, but found nothing. Not that I'm aware of... You could try grepping the kernel sources for ``printf'' :-) None of the kernel boot-up messages that I have looked at recently are wrapped in any #ifdef or other conditional which could be used to prevent their display. After syslogd(8) is started (after the kernel is finished initializing, and init(8) is started), kernel warning and error messages are output to the console (in bright white). Is it possible that is what you are referring to? If so, read up on syslog.conf(5), and learn how to edit /etc/syslog.conf to squelch the console output. I must confess that I don't really understand why you'd want to do this, though. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your question. - Ryan -- Ryan Thompson <ryan@sasknow.com> Network Administrator, Accounts SaskNow Technologies - http://www.sasknow.com #106-380 3120 8th St E - Saskatoon, SK - S7H 0W2 Tel: 306-664-3600 Fax: 306-664-1161 Saskatoon Toll-Free: 877-727-5669 (877-SASKNOW) North America To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
