Hi, after some frustration I found out that Oracle 9i actually does run with linux_base-8 (on FreeBSD 5.2-R) ***unless*** you've mounted linprocfs. When linprocfs is mounted, Oracle does not start. You get an error "ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel" during startup, and the alert file has: Starting ORACLE instance (normal) LICENSE_MAX_SESSION = 50 LICENSE_SESSIONS_WARNING = 0 Mon Feb 2 23:14:02 2004 Errors in file /opt/oracle/product/9.0.1/rdbms/log/gwkutf_ora_2318.trc: ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [ksunfy()+1837] [SIGFPE] [Integer overflow] [0x0] [] [] So users of Oracle might want to avoid linux_base-8 or at least not mount linprocfs. -- Regards, Georg.
