even though src/etc/pccard.conf.sample ($FreeBSD:

contains:
card "Linksys" "EtherFast 10/100 PC Card (PCMPC100"
without the trailing ')'
Personally, I had to update my pccard.conf (when MAX_CIS was updated) so
the line is:
card "Linksys" "EtherFast 10/100 PC Card (PCMPC100)"
