So, those ``releases'' are probably put out to attract people who might be able to actually support the work but don't have the overall expertise or time to port the kernel to a new architecture. Don't forget that the README for 386BSD-0.0 also said things like `the terminal driver is not really stable, sometimes characters get stuck in the queue, ...' and it took, what, 3 years? until FreeBSD-1.1.5 was out. tg
