I had 3.0 and 4.0 Netscape set up to send .wav files to a wave file player on this system. Since upgrading to 4.5, it always says "plugin not found for application x/wav...whatever". I have gone through the same things you have with the mailcap and .mime.types files. I can't even figure out what the difference between a "helper" and a "plug-in" is from their docs.
