I entirely agree it is a stack hog, but people have demonstrated in the
past that there are a lot of other functions in the kernel that are a
lot worse. Even the old TTY code had a 384 buffer on stack and nobody
cared about it for 20 years.

I wouldn't have a problem disabling it again after we've branched
stable/8, but I think we should at least let people test it and see
whether we can get it into the release.
